After researching siding types on the internet, I found the James Hardie Hardiplank siding suited our needs. Being new to the area, we were very skeptical in finding a contractor that was reliable and had the installation knowledge. After several phone calls to various contractors who were not familiar with the product, we thought we would have to concede and go with vinyl siding. We felt that for this area’s climate, vinyl siding was not going to hold up well and we wanted something attractive, durable and maintenance free. We found what we needed when we found your number on the website.

We cannot tell you how much at ease we were with every aspect of the project. Throughout the project you kept us up to date on the progress. When you encountered an issue and needed to contact us, you didn’t leave us to figure out how to handle it; you formulated a plan before calling and just needed an ok from us. I am a 50 year old Networking Engineer and have always had to work under strict guidelines and quality checks. DH Construction works under the same guidelines – please read on. We contacted the www.jameshardie.com website as we knew this is what we wanted to replace our slowly deteriorating Masonite Siding.

Brian Howell with DH Construction was the first recommendation to call me from James Hardie. Brian set a time to meet, he met his time and we discussed the areas of my concerns with our 20 year old Masonite Siding House. Brian and I inspected the house and he went over with me in details his steps of removal and replacement. He pointed out that our house due to begin 20 years old didn’t have the vapor barrier and it would need to be installed. He also covered where he saw wood that need replacing that I had missed in my inspections.

We contracted with D.H. Construction to strip our old house of Masonite siding, repair the water damage wood that was found, replace the gutter systems on both house and our detached garage and worked his recommended painter. Brian gave us a date when he could start and provided us with a project guideline which he held to except on rain days. Even though he tried he couldn’t control the weather, but all other aspects of the job he did control and supervise. Brian made recommendations on window shutters; he quoted a price and allowed me to search for a better price. I found none and he provided the shutters and installed them. Brian also monitored the work of two other contractors that he recommended (Painter and Gutter crews) after the siding was completed.

Brian and his people were always courteous and pleasant and we were very satisfied with his work. I strongly recommend Brian and DH Construction for you siding and general home maintenance repairs. Excellent craftsmanship and professionalism from start to finish. view photos here

In my entire career of more than 30 years' job experience, I never encountered a person who even came close to Brian Howell-DH Construction Co.

His craftsmanship is far superior to those who attempt to compete with him and his prices are competitive. He uses quality materials and state-of-the-art installation techniques. For example, he is the only Craftsman I am aware of who can build the labor intensive Chippendale railings, which he built on my back sundeck. During the past several years I replaced rotting siding several boards at a time, while the rest of the siding was in a progressive state of decay. DH Construction Co. totally replaced the Masonite hardboard siding with Hardiplank which looks like wood but is better, as Hardiplank has none of the maintenance problems of wood. "We engaged D.H. Construction to strip our old house of Cypress siding and replace it with HardiPlank. I wanted just the right company, because our home is a 5,000 square foot reproduction of a house built in 1743 in Deerfield, MA. Brian and his people did an outstanding job for us. He made suggestions of the best paint, materials and repair techniques. He also supervised two other contractors who were working on the roof and installing copper gutters. I especially appreciated that DH stayed on the job until it was completed. We were so pleased with his work, that we had him build an arched bridge and repair a gazebo that was in bad shape. My wife and I needed to re-side our home due to obvious water damage to our original siding. We chose to go with "Hardiplank" due to the outstanding reputation it has and its' warrantee that can't be matched anywhere. After contacting the Hardiplank via their web page, we were informed to contact Brian Howell of "D.H. Construction Company". From our first meeting with Brain when he gave me the estimate, we were sold. Not only did he give me a realistic estimate, he informed me our old siding may be under recall and how to file a claim for the water damage. Once construction started, it was obvious Brian was a perfectionist and dedicated to his profession (not a bad combination for a contractor). Not only was he professional, the same can be said for his entire crew. They went above and beyond our expectations. He kept me informed during the entire process. Whenever he found damage that wasn't expected, he would explain everything to me in layman terms I could understand and give me an estimate for the additional work. The few times this happened he charged less than his estimate when he finished the additional work. In conclusion, I could not be happier with my Hardiplank siding and would not want any other construction company to work on my home.
